Yes!
Researchers make up a large portion of FOVE’s userbase.
These are the data fields emitted from the eye tracker:
- Monocular gaze vectors (left/right eyes) + combined vector (averaged)
- Convergence distance (approximate; works best within a few meters)
- 2D gaze vectors (X/Y position on screen)
- IPD (interpupillary distance; updates in real time as the eyes converge)
- IOD (interocular distance; the IPD when looking at infinity; static for a single person)
- Torsion in degrees
- Eye outline
- 2D pupil shape as ellipse
- Open/close state
- Full-resolution left/right eye image
- Left/right pupil radius
- Name of object being gazed at
- Attention state (is the user currently saccading or not)
- Eyeball radius
- Eye open/close state
Most of the above fields require a FOVE Pro subscription. Only standard gaze estimation is available in the free version.
All the above fields, including the eye image, can be received at 120Hz with the FOVE 0 mass-production headset, or at 480Hz when using the FOVE 480 retrofit with high frame rate cameras.
